Position Summary:

The IT Support Technician’s primary focus will be on maintaining PTV NuStats’ Windows and Linux server environment. As part of the IT team, the technician will work to resolve staff requests by using the internal support ticket queue. They will participate in all system and network upgrades and on-call duties. This position will also act as a backup IT support tech for the San Marcos office in the event of staff being out-of-office.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain daily operations of the Windows and Linux environment

  • Verify routine backups and system updates

  • Participate with IT planning for system development and expansion

  • Configure and deploy new applications and services

  • Resolve support requests with the internal ticket system

  • Coordinate with IT staff to troubleshoot and escalate reported issues and with other technical departments

  • Support multifunction printers

  • Deploy and maintain wireless network infrastructure

  • Deploy and maintain backup and recovery solution utilizing Symantec Backup Exec

  • Support VPN, remote users, user’s systems and desktop applications

  • Monitor network traffic and performance

  • Maintain cooperate antivirus and network security

  • Support internal Avaya IP Office phone system and voicemail

  • Assist with process and procedure documentation

  • Assist with building IT knowledge base and wiki

  • Learn Voxco Command Center to better support the application servers

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • High School diploma required, Technical degree preferred

  • 2 years experience related to the position responsibilities required

  • Technical knowledge of Windows Server 2k3 or 2k8 R2 and Xp/Win7 in a domain environment

  • Experience with Windows Active Directory and Group Policy administration

  • Comfortable configuring and troubleshooting TCP/IP and network based services such as DNS, SMTP, HTTPS and FTPS.

  • Technical knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies such as T1, PRI, and MPLS

  • Network security and firewall administration experience

  • Experience using an enterprise backup and recovery solution

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 2k3 and later

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Communicate professionally with non-technical staff members

  • Strong organizational skills

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • PBX and telco experience

  • Linux (CentOS/Redhat) installation and configuration experience

  • MS SQL 2k5 or 2k8 installation and configuration

  • Web development or application integration

  • VM Ware or virtual technology administration

  • Experience with iSCSI Storage Area Network technology

  • Technical certifications
